Bokaro: The Guru Gobind Singh Public School (GGPS), Bokaro celebrated the National Mathematics Day on Wednesday to honor Srinivasa Ramanujan, one of the greatest mathematicians of all time.
Every year, the National Mathematics Day is celebrated on December 22 to commemorate Srinivasa Ramanujan. The great mathematician was born on this day in 1887. The objective was to create awareness about the importance of Mathematics in our everyday lives and to encourage students to study the subject. During the celebration, the Mathematics Department organized a quiz program and spoke about mathematics.
Students and participants enjoyed the program. Soumen Chakraborty, the school principal, honored Srinivasa Ramanujan by garlanding his portrait. He mentioned that Ramanujan was a giant among the giants of mathematics and a legend.
In recognition of his contributions to Mathematics Ramanujan sharpened his knowledge without formal education, he mastered trigonometry and developed many theorems independently without any help from math teachers. Vice-Principal Shilpi Chakraborty, Vice-Principal Suman Nangia, Vice-Principal, Jr. Wing, and Middle Wing Incharge Alok Kumar Jha graced the event.
