Bokaro: The majority of students who topped the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) board exams in the district come from the low-income families. They are children of contract laborers, vendors, farmers, and others.
Manisha Kumari, a student of Jagdish Prasad Baranwal Memorial High School, Laherbeda Chandrapura under Bermo, won the district top spot in Class X with 96.60 percent. She scored 483 marks, including 92 in Hindi, 97 in English, 100 in Mathematics, 98 in Science, 96 in Sanskrit, and 91 in SOC. Manisha said, “There is no substitute for hard work. I want to become a doctor”. Her father, Kailash Prasad Mahato, is an agent of an insurance company.
In the intermediate science stream, Arnav Kumar, a student at RamRudra Ucch Vidyalaya, Jodadih Moad, Chas, becomes the district topper, scoring 478 marks. His father, Ramji Rajak, is a worker in a local printing press. Kumar said he wants to become an engineer.
Another Sneha Kumar, a daughter of a newspaper hawker, scored 472 marks and became the second topper in the Intermediate science stream in the district. She is a student of Chetrnath High School, Harnad. She said that she wants to become a teacher.
Sapan Kumar Mahto, a student of Sarvoday Government High School, Pindrajoda, also bagged 472 marks in science. He is the son of a farmer. He wants to become a doctor and serve poor people. Apart from those mentioned above, the other toppers also come from poor backgrounds.
In the matriculation, the second position in the district is jointly shared by Sushant Kumar, a student of Ram Ratan High School Dhori of Phusro and Aryan Kumar, a student of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir Telo Chandrapura. Sushant scored 482 ( 96.40 %). He got 96 in Hindi, 93 in English, 100 in Mathematics, 98 in Science, 95 in SOC and 67 in Sanskrit. His Father runs a small grocery shop in number Dhauda area.
The result in Bokaro was appreciated. The top ranks were held by boys. In 12th Science, of the 25 top rankers, 20 are boys. At the same time, in the 10th board, of the 25 top rankers 14 are boys. As soon as the result was declared, most of the students gathered in the respective schools and celebrated their success.
