Bokaro: Under the astute leadership of Executive Director (Works) Birendra Kumar Tiwari, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), continues to shine as a beacon of productivity and innovation in the steel industry. 
BSL has achieved unprecedented success in the first half of the current financial year (H1) and throughout the month of September 2023. Tiwari’s exceptional leadership fuelled remarkable production milestones, setting new benchmarks for the entire BSL.
In both the first half of the fiscal year(H1) and the month of September 2023, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has scaled new heights, marking substantial enhancements in key techno-economic parameters encompassing production and despatch.
In September 2023, the plant attained 100% of its Annual Business Plan (ABP ) target in Oven Pushing, 106% in Sinter Production, 106% in SMS-2 & CCS (Crude Steel Production), 101% in HR Plate/Sheet Production, 100% in CR Saleable (CRM-3 ), 101% of ABP in HDGL-III, and a staggering 113% in BAF (U/L), said BSL sources.
Furthermore, September 2023 witnessed a slew of new monthly production records, including CR Saleable production (CRM-3) reaching 73,221 tonnes, road dispatch of 11,516 tonnes of Saleable Steel, and Specific Power Consumption standing at an impressive 380 kWh per TSS in techno-economic parameters. Notably, a new daily record was etched into history with a total of 1216 tonnes of CDI injection into the blast furnace in September 2023.
The first half of the current financial year also witnessed creation of several new records, including 2297290 tonnes of Hot Metal production from four furnace operations, 2084404 tonnes of Crude Steel production, 4,01,158 tonnes of production from SMS-New, 2012159 tonnes of Saleable Steel production, 2017258 tonnes of dispatch, and a remarkable 961738 tonnes of granulated slag dispatch from four furnace operations. These figures represent the best performance in the first half (H1) period since the inception of Bokaro Steel Plant.
Senior officials have extended their compliments to team BSL for these extraordinary achievements and have urged them to maintain this streak of excellence.
