Bokaro: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the FGT (Flue Gas Desulphurisation) plant online on Friday, constructed at a cost of Rs 470 crore in Bokaro Thermal Power Station a unit of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC).

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Bokaro Thermal Power Station premises, attended by key figures including Executive Director (Fuel) Tarun Kumar from Kolkata Headquarters and Anand Mohan Prasad, CGM cum HOP of the project.
Emphasising the crucial role of the FGT plant in maintaining environmental cleanliness, Senior General Manager and Project Head Anand Mohan highlighted its significance. He emphasised that the plant, constructed by DVC in Bokaro Thermal, serves a vital purpose in curbing pollution.
Executive Director Tarun Kumar expressed pride in DVC’s commitment to clean energy, considering the inauguration a significant milestone. Senior Manager Rajiv Ranjan elucidated on the innovative concept of the FGT plant, explaining its role in desulphurization by reacting with oxygen to mitigate sulfur emissions.
The construction of the FGD (Flue Gas Desulphurisation) plant, aimed at implementing stringent environmental standards and pollution control, cost Rs 470 crore for the 500 MW power plant of DVC at Bokaro Thermal.
The project was completed collaboratively with M/s Techno Electric and Engineering Company Limited of Kolkata. This development heralds a step forward in combatting hazardous pollution, particularly sulphur emissions.
