Bokaro: In an effort to bolster fire safety awareness, the Fire Wing of BSL Bokaro Unit, under the expert guidance of Digvijay Kumar Singh, Deputy Inspector General of BSL Bokaro, has embarked on a crucial two-day initiative. This program is designed to provide emergency evacuation training and fire safety education to schools within BSL Township.
On August 13 and August 16, 2024, Sree Ayyappa Public School in Sector-5 played host to this vital program, which included comprehensive sessions on fire safety measures and practical emergency drills for teachers, staff, and students.
Informative Sessions and Drills
On August 13, 2024, Manoj Chauhan, Assistant Commandant and in-charge of the Fire Wing, led a session where he detailed the responsibilities of school staff during emergencies. He emphasised crucial fire safety measures and provided guidance on safely evacuating both staff and students in case of a fire. Additionally, he covered various Indian Standard Codes and Building Bye-laws applicable to schools.
Following this, on August 16, 2024, Inspector/Fire Prakash Kumar Mishra demonstrated the use and operation of primary firefighting equipment. His session included practical demonstrations to ensure that both teachers and students are equipped with the knowledge to handle fire emergencies effectively.
Enthusiastic Participation and Praise
The event saw enthusiastic participation from the teachers, staff, and students of Sree Ayyappa Public School. They actively engaged in hands-on fire-fighting practice, enhancing their preparedness for real-life emergencies. School Principal, Shailaja Jaikumar, commended the Fire Wing’s efforts and underscored the importance of fire safety. She highlighted that fire safety is a collective responsibility and urged everyone to remain vigilant and informed.
