Teachers trained in Bokaro to decode teenage minds & shape tomorrow’s leaders


Bokaro: A two-day capacity building workshop aimed at preparing teachers under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 concluded at DPS Bokaro on Friday. Conducted under the aegis of CBSE’s Centre of Excellence (COE), Patna, the workshop focused on adolescent education and saw the participation of nearly 60 teachers from the school.

Inaugural Ceremony and Welcome Address 
The workshop was inaugurated with traditional Vedic chants and lamp lighting by Principal Dr. A.S. Gangwar and resource persons—P. Shailaja Jayakumar, Principal of Ayyappa Public School, and Chanda Kumari, senior teacher at MGM Higher Secondary School. The event began with a devotional bhajan performed by the school’s music teachers.

Focus on Adolescent Issues and Teacher’s Role 
Dr. Gangwar emphasised the importance of adolescent education, describing it as a crucial phase involving physical, mental, social, and emotional changes. He highlighted the essential role teachers play in helping students navigate these challenges effectively.

Interactive Sessions and Group Activities 
The workshop covered both theoretical and practical aspects of adolescent education through group discussions and interactive activities. Resource persons addressed issues like social media influence, gender discrimination, and substance abuse. Teachers were divided into groups to share insights on adolescence-related traits, needs, and emotional challenges.

Adolescents as Future Leaders 
P. Shailaja Jayakumar described adolescents as future leaders, underlining the joint responsibility of parents and teachers in their holistic development. The workshop concluded with a session evaluation and feedback collection.
