With the growing threat of natural disasters across the country, the need for disaster management awareness is more critical than ever. In a proactive step towards strengthening community resilience, the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), South Campus, has launched a five-day Training of Trainers Programme on “Child Protection and Child Rights in Disasters and Emergencies.”
The training, being held from June 23 to 27, is organised by the Child Centered Disaster Risk Reduction (CCDRR) Centre, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The programme focuses on equipping trainers with the knowledge and tools to safeguard children’s rights and ensure their protection during emergencies and disasters.
Shakti Kumar, District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) from Jharkhand, is participating in the training session. As a national-level trainer, he is actively involved in guiding participants and sharing strategies that help mitigate disaster impacts, especially for vulnerable child populations.
The training emphasises the importance of building a Resilient India – Disaster-Free India, ensuring that the youngest and most vulnerable are not left behind in crisis preparedness and response.
