Bokaro: The district administration of Bokaro is making a concerted effort to ensure that every eligible voter is prepared and motivated to participate in the upcoming general elections on May 25, 2024. A series of voter awareness programs were organised across the district.
As part of the district’s efforts to boost voter awareness, a comprehensive program was held on Thursday in coal mining areas. These initiatives aimed to engage workers and their families in the electoral process, providing them with information about the importance of voting and how to register if they were not already on the voter list.
Voter Awareness Event at CCL Dhori Mines:
A major voter awareness event took place at Central Coalfield Limited (CCL) Dhori Mines area, where SVEEP Nodal Officer Prabhash Dutta, District Mining Officer Ravi Kumar, DDMA Shakti Kumar, Circle Officer Bermo Sanjit Kumar and CCL officers and employees were present.

Dutta emphasised the importance of treating the election as a national festival, encouraging everyone to vote and strengthen democracy. He urged unregistered voters to apply online or through their BLOs before the deadline on April 26, 2024.
Document Requirements for Voting:
Ravi Kumar Singh and Shakti Kumar explained that voters must present a photo identity card (EPIC) at the polling station. If unavailable, alternative identification such as a passport, driver’s license, or Aadhaar card can be used. Twelve alternative ID options have been recognized by the Election Commission of India.
Voter Pledges:
Participants at the event took a pledge to vote and inspire others to do the same. Such pledges were also made at numerous awareness programs across the district.
Local Outreach Efforts:
Chas Municipal Corporation organized awareness programs in various wards, while Phusro Municipal Council conducted rallies. Stickers promoting voter awareness were placed on vehicles throughout the city.
Student Involvement in Bermo:
The Labor Employment Training and Skill Development Department hosted a program at the Skill Development Center in Bermo. Girl students created rangoli and henna designs with voter awareness messages. Students were encouraged to motivate their families and peers to vote.
Health Department Initiatives:
The Health Department organised voter awareness programs for medical officers and personnel in the CS office auditorium and other locations, including Community Health Center Nawadih. Health assistants led awareness rallies, promoting voting within the community.
Community Engagement:
Sakhi Didis from the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) used henna to create designs with voter awareness messages, inspiring rural women to exercise their right to vote.
These extensive efforts by the Bokaro district administration and various departments aim to foster a sense of civic duty and ensure a high voter turnout for the upcoming elections. By focusing on engaging different sectors of the community, including students, health workers, and local leaders, the administration hopes to strengthen the democratic process in Bokaro.
