Bokaro: Exhibiting outstanding strength, skill, and sportsmanship, the judokas of MGM Higher Secondary School, Bokaro, made the city proud with their remarkable performance at the CBSE National Judo Championship 2025–26, held at Ganganagar, Rajasthan. Competing against top contenders from across the nation, the team secured an impressive three Gold, three Silver, and five Bronze medals, along with several special honours.
Under-11 and Under-14 Categories Bring Early Success
In the Under-11 Boys’ category, Gaurav Kumar (Std. 5/C) won Silver (25 kg), while Saksham Kumar Singh (Std. 5/E) earned Bronze (40 kg). The Under-14 division added further glory when Anshu Kumar (Std. 7/E) clinched Gold (30 kg), bagging the Best Player of the Tournament title and a spot in the School National Games (SGFI) 2025–26. Priyadarshini Singh (Std. 8/F) also shone with a Bronze (50 kg).

Under-17 and Under-19 Players Dominate the Mat
In the Under-17 category, Rajveer Singh (Std. 11/F) won Gold (55 kg) and qualified for the School National Games (SGFI). Shiddarth Kumar (Std. 10/A) earned Silver (66 kg), while Kumari Aditi (Std. 10/B) took home Bronze.
Meanwhile, the Under-19 division witnessed spectacular performances. Jayant Kumar (Std. 11/E) claimed Gold (60 kg) and earned dual selection for the Khelo India Youth Games 2025–26 and the SGFI Nationals. Ritu Raj (Std. 12/A) and Shashank Shekhar (Std. 10/B) added Bronze medals, while Aakriti Kumari (Std. 8/F) contributed a Silver (44 kg).
Team MGM Earns Multiple Titles and Special Recognition
The MGM team’s collective effort was rewarded as they won the Under-14 Male Best Player Award, were declared Overall Runner-Up in the Under-17 Male category, and emerged as Overall Champions in the Under-19 Male category, marking a historic achievement for the school.
Coach and Principal Laud Students’ Effort and Discipline
Coach Mr. Rajiv Kumar played a pivotal role in the team’s success through his rigorous training and strategic guidance. Congratulating the team, Principal Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese said, “Our students have once again proved that discipline, dedication, and teamwork lead to true success. Their victory at the national level showcases both their talent and the school’s commitment to holistic education.”
He also extended gratitude to the coach and the participants for bringing laurels to MGM. Academic Director Mr. George Joseph, Vice Principal Mrs. Rakhi Banerjee, and Headmistress Mrs. Sapna Joshi joined in congratulating the team and wished them success in future championships.
