Bokaro: A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between SAIL-Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) and JGEC (Jalpaiguri Govt. Engineering College) to identify and pursue joint research projects in the areas of Steel Making and Digital Transformation.
From BSL Sanjay Kumar, ED (Works) signed the MOU while Professor of JGEC Chinmoy Ghosh of Computer Science department and Prof. Shrayasi Datta of Information Technology department were present during the ceremony.
Sanjay Kumar elaborated that this MOU will collaborate joint research and development project in different areas of steel plant including environment and safety. ED(W) also emphasized that the rich field experience of our people and the vast knowledge and expertise of academicians from JGEC will help drive synergy and create values for both the institutions(BSL & JGEC).
S. Mukhopadhyay,CGM(Maint.& Digital Champion), SAIL, BSL informed that collaborative work of the SAIL-Bokaro steel plant and JGEC will aide in our Digital Transformation journey and to establish better practices in the areas of operations, maintenance and supply chain using deep tech and Industry 4.0 technologies.
Prof. Chinmoy Ghosh, JGEC expressed his happiness during signing of MOU and expected good number of collaborations in core R&D areas related to steel making and Industry-4.0 and digital transformation.
Prof Shrayasi Datta, JGEC informed about the vast pool of knowledge available out in JGEC and was confident enough to carry out in-depth research in areas of Machine Learning and Data Analytics.
