Bokaro: The online inauguration done by chief minister, Hemant Soren of the 100-bedded temporary hospital of Vendanta Group at Library Ground, Sector 5 in Bokaro township, bagged huge criticism of the Chandankyari MLA, Amar Bauri on Tuesday. MLA, who is also president of schedule caste wing of BJP, sat on dharna on the floor at Deputy commissioner office in protest soon after the online function.
Bauri showed his anger for not being invited to the online inauguration ceremony, despite he is the local MLA of the constituency where Vendanta’s ESL plant is operational. It was only after chief secretary, Sukhdev Singh intervened and talked to Bauri over the phone he revokes dharna.
The Bermo MLA, Kumar Jaimangal and Gomia Legislature Lambodar Mahto were present at the DC office. Bauri expressed his anger against Vendanta before DDC, SDO, Chas, Shashi Prakash Singh, civil surgeon, A K Pathak and other officials at the DC office.
However, MP, Dhanbad, P N Singh and Bokaro MLA also criticised Vendanta’s ESL and JMM government for keeping such neglected attitude against the local legislature of the area. The residents of Chandankyari are also unhappy with opening of Vendanta’s field hospital in town, about 30-40 kilometres far from steel plant.
Local residents were demanding from Vedanta to install Covid-19 temporary hospital at its operational area. Chandankyari is a rural belt and doesn’t have any hospital. Bauri also targeted chief minister saying he has neglected the local MLA and inaugurated the temporary hospital.
Bauri said “Hemant Soren government of the state is being run by the corporate house. Not inviting him to the inaugural program of the hospital today is the biggest example of this. Vedanta Electrosteel is located in Chandankiyari. I am the MLA of that area and belong to schedule caste, that’s why company is neglecting me”.
Bokaro township, boast Bokaro General Hospital (BGH), Sadar Hospital and two big private hospitals and a dozen other health providers. Rather of opening temporary hospital for the needy people of Chandankyari, Vedanta has installed its field hospital in town. Vedanta has cheated the people of Chandankyari, said Bauri.
However during the virtual inauguration ceremony, Health Minister Banna Gupta was also present along with chief Minister in Ranchi. Dhanbad MP, PN Singh, Chairman of Vedanta Group Anil Agarwal, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Singh and others participated in the program through virtual medium.
Soren said that the government is constantly engaged in improving health services. They have inaugurated the newly constructed ICU ward and pipeline based oxygenated beds in Latehar district today. Worked to take health services to those places where people had lost hope that they would ever get better health care.
Chief Minister said “corona infection has opened the eyes. We got a chance to know and understand on many aspects, we are moving forward by removing the shortcomings. For the last one and a half years, the state is doing better than its internal powers. The state had a better position than other states in both the first phase and the second phase of corona infection.
Soren also said that “we have the zeal to work, we have amazing ability, and we can develop our skills. In the initial days, there was no availability of Covid testing in the state. We were dependent on other states for tests. The Covid sample test used to go to Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Gujarat. Accepting these challenges and moving forward, today all the facilities are arranged in the state. In the second phase of Covid, under 80-90 percent of private hospitals, arrangements were made for proper treatment. Now private hospitals are also returning to normal.
In this sequence, Covid issues were also discussed with the Vedanta group. After which the company is dedicating a hundred bedded bed equipped with all facilities to the people today. He thanked the group for this. This will not only benefit Bokaro district. Rather, nearby districts like Dhanbad, Giridih, Ramgarh etc. will also be benefitted. Chief Minister talked about continuing this work even further. The state government will support such groups as Coal India, Tata, BSL etc. through single window system. We will solve every problem with each other’s cooperation.
On the occasion, state health minister said “today we are moving one step further towards in getting better facilities to fight corona”. At the same time, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal praised the work of the Jharkhand government to provide oxygen to the entire country in the second phase of Corona.
