Bokaro: An awareness programme on rising cybercrime threats was conducted at Guru Gobind Singh Educational Society’s Technical Campus (GGSESTC), Engineering and Management College, Bokaro on Friday. The session was led by Chas SDPO Praveen Kumar Singh and Pindrajora police station in-charge Abhishek Ranjan, who addressed students and faculty about the expanding landscape of digital fraud.
During the session, the officials explained how cybercriminals are increasingly using sophisticated methods such as digital arrest scams, OTP fraud, AI-generated voice manipulation, morphed photographs and banking-related deception. They outlined the potential consequences of falling victim to these crimes and urged students to remain alert while using digital platforms.
The speakers also informed participants about the official grievance channels available for cyber-related offences. In case of any incident, victims can immediately lodge a complaint by dialing 1930, while emergency police assistance can be sought through the 112 helpline. The officials further engaged with students in an interactive Q&A session, clearing doubts and offering real-life examples to enhance understanding.

College Director Dr. Priyadarshi Jaruhar remarked that many of these cybercrimes originate from foreign locations, making awareness and vigilance even more crucial. He expressed gratitude to the SDPO and the police team for conducting such an insightful and informative programme for the campus community.
