Bokaro: ‘SRIJAN’, the two day Science Summit including Inter House Child Rights, Science Project, IT and Quiz Competitions, was conducted for the students of DPS Bokaro in the school campus. The event concluded on Friday.
Understanding the Ecosystem for Health and Well being was the theme for the Child Rights and Science Competition. A special corner showcasing experiments on ‘Fun with Science’ was also the centre of attraction for the spectators.
Dr. Priyank Kumar, Prof. Incharge, Space Engineering and Rocketry, BIT Mesra was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Prashant Kumar Singh, Senior Manager, CRM-III, BSL, Shashaank Shekhar, AGM, BSL, P. R. K. Verma, Dy. General Secretary, NCSC Jharkhand and Md. Shamim, Associate Manager, Electrosteel Steels Limited were the judges. More than 100 Students from all the six houses participated in the summit. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp.
Dr. Priyank applauded the incredible efforts put forth by the students. He said that technology and invention have their own pros and cons. We must be careful to ensure that our innovations do not add extra burden on the ailing planet.
On the basis of their presentations, in Science Exhibition (Jr.) Ganga House with Eco-friendly Chulha secured First place whereas Sutlej (Watt watcher) and Chenab Houses (Multifunction Vacuum Cleaner Robot) secured Second and Third positions respectively.
In the Senior category, Sutlej House (Waste Segregation) secured the First position while Ganga (Darkness to Light) and Jamuna (Cultivating Clean Energy) jointly shared the Second position while Jhelum (Biogas Treatment Plant) bagged the Third position.
In the Child Rights Competition (Jr.), Ganga (Right for Children) bagged the First position followed by Chenab (Paryavaran Sanrakshan) and Jamuna (Menstrual Hygiene Box) on the second and third positions respectively.
In the Senior Group, Jamuna (Environment Protection) bagged the First followed by Ganga (Fight to Freedom) on the Second and Chenab (Committee on the Rights of Child) on the Third position.
In the Inter House Quiz Competition, Ganga secured the First, Sutlej bagged the Second and Raavi finished on the Third position. In IT competition (Jr.), Jhelum House (Aviral Tanmay) secured the First while Chenab (Aarush Priyadarshi) and Jamuna House (Baivhav Kumar) clinched the Second and Third position respectively while in Senior, Raavi (Sreyanshu Ghosh) bagged the First followed by Jamuna (Apurva Jha) and Chenab (Anuj) on the Second and Third position respectively.
Speaking about the competition, Dr. A. S. Gangwar, Principal, DPS Bokaro said that such competitions are organised to sensitize and inculcate innovativeness among the students and help them come-up with ideas to solve everyday problems.
