Bokaro: Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro, hosted a one-day capacity-building workshop on Saturday on ‘The National Curriculum Framework(NCF) for the Foundational Stage’ in alignment with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020, to bring a complete transformation of India’s schooling system to make it of the highest quality for all students equitably.
In a significant step in this direction, the training was organised under the aegis of the Centre of Excellence (CoE), CBSE Patna to empower educators of the school. The workshop featured accomplished educators as Resource Persons, including Anuradha Singh, Principal, DAV Public School, Sector VI and Pooja Singh, Senior Teacher at Holy Cross School.
In her session, Anuradha Singh emphasised the indispensable role of teachers in nurturing young minds during their formative years. She highlighted that education is the cornerstone of national development. However, in the age of hyper-modernity and competitive posturing, many parents inadvertently burden their children with high expectations that exceed their developmental stage, often robbing them of a carefree childhood. “Today’s children are being confined to the virtual realm of screens, at the cost of real-world experiences such as outdoor play and social interaction.
In such a scenario, teachers of early grades hold the immense responsibility of not just safeguarding the innocence of childhood but also of moulding future leaders,” she remarked. Refuting the notion that language can be a barrier to growth, she called for a shift in linguistic mindsets. She also delved into government initiatives such as the Ministry of Education’s ‘NIPUN Bharat Mission’ and the five-fold developmental domains crucial to holistic child growth.
Resource Person, Pooja Singh highlighted the need to revamp pedagogical and play-based learning patterns. She elaborated that the NCF for the Foundational Stage seeks to revolutionize early childhood education in India, by laying down a comprehensive vision, pedagogical principles and practical strategies for high-quality education for children up to the age of eight.
In his address, Dr. A.S.Gangwar, Principal DPS Bokaro, expressed that such sessions are highly relevant to ensure high-quality education among children and would bring consonance across the curricula in the country. He encouraged teachers to adopt the learning from the workshop in their daily classroom practices to get better outcomes.
