DPS Bokaro’s Fancy Dress Competition celebrates creativity and conservation


Bokaro: With an aim to develop healthy competition and public speaking skills among the young students, Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro organised a colourful three-day fancy dress competition in its Primary Wing, concluding on a gala note on Thursday. Young participants, adorned in captivating costumes, mesmerised the audience with their innocent charm, expressive gestures and earnest delivery of meaningful messages. Over three days, the children showcased an array of themes, drawing applause for their creativity, ingenuity and dedication. More than 400 students participated in this fun-filled competition. The competition’s first day witnessed Grade 1 students embodying a variety of animals, birds, aquatic creatures and plants, such as lions, elephants, pythons, owls, pandas, dolphins and trees. Their vibrant portrayals emphasised the urgent need for the conservation of endangered species and the environment. Other students donned the avatars of iconic figures such as Subhas Chandra Bose, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Einstein. Many participants crafted their costumes from eco-friendly materials like jute, paper and reusable scraps which exemplified sustainability, thus highlighting the importance of recycling and resourcefulness. Day two featured Prep students celebrating India’s rich cultural diversity through traditional attire representing the state of Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Punjab and tribal communities. Several participants took to the stage as marine creatures like octopus, jellyfish and turtles, raising awareness about aquatic conservation. The children also portrayed beloved cartoon characters like Spiderman, Chota Bheem and Doraemon, using these familiar faces to advocate for protecting nature and pollution control.

The grand finale on Thursday showcased the creativity of Nursery students, who dressed as professionals, insects, flowers and trees. Their performances as pilots, police officers, doctors, carpenters and other community helpers emphasized the themes of collaboration and service. The outstanding performers in various categories were presented with certificates encouraging their efforts and innate talents. Dr. A.S.
