Bokaro: The pollution caused by Diwali firecrackers has led manufacturers to create green, eco-friendly firecrackers in large scale this year. More than 45% of the market in Bokaro this Diwali is occupied by green firecrackers. Green crackers are preferred by many residents. Munna Burnwal, also known as Munna Pataka, a distributor of Cock Brand in this region, says the sale of green crackers has increased this year.
“People in Bokaro are sensitive to pollution caused by crackers, so they have switched over to green crackers. The manufacturers have also started making green crackers in bulk,” said Munna Burnwal, owner of the largest crackers showroom that opened in Chas on Tuesday. The price of green crackers ranges from Rs 60 to Rs 600.
What are Green Firecrackers:Green crackers, an idea by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, do not contain harmful chemicals. It means that less pollution emission resulting in reduced air pollution. Simply put, green crackers or eco-friendly crackers are manufactured from alternative raw materials to leave a lesser impact on the environment and pose lesser health risks. It has been explained that green crackers don’t contain aluminium, barium, potassium nitrate or carbon, making them eco-friendly.
