The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) amended its casual leave rules on Monday, allowing employees to take 10 days of leave at a time. Previously, officers were not allowed to take more than six days of casual leave at one time. Those working at the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) and other SAIL units were little relieved by the order.
The amendment will take effect on January 1, according to SAIL sources. In the last 13 months, this was the second time casual leave was amended in SAIL. Earlier on November 23, 2020, SAIL amended its casual leave policy to grant six days instead of three in one spell.
The Steel Executive Federation of India (SEFI) strongly supported the amendment of casual leave. The Bokaro Steel Officers Association (BSOA) has also urged SAIL officials to seriously address the issue.
A K Singh, president of BSOA and strong candidate for SEFI chairmanship, said, “The amendment of availing the CL in one go has been changed through the initiative of BSOA and SEFI. Earlier, it was 3 days in one spell, but after several persuasions, it became 6. The members’ demand for 10 has been considered by the management and an order has been issued. Thank you to SAIL, chairman, Soma Mondal and directors”.
In addition, “the long-pending revision of TA & DA may also be implemented in the coming months”.
