Environmental Crusader Navin Prakash Srivastava: Leading the charge for a sustainable future

In a vibrant display of youth engagement and environmental consciousness, approximately 150 children participated in various competitions held today at the Bokaro Club. The event, organised to commemorate World Environment Day, saw enthusiastic participation from young minds eager to contribute to global efforts toward sustainability and environmental stewardship. The Head of Environment & Sustainability, Navin Prakash Srivastava delivered a stirring address, highlighting the significance of this year’s theme, “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.” Emphasising the pivotal role of land restoration in fostering ecological balance, Srivastava underscored the importance of collective action in achieving the objectives outlined in the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030).

Srivastava urged the audience to recognise the intrinsic value of our land, viewing it not only as a resource but as a sacred entity intertwined with our collective destiny. He asserted, “Our land is our future, a sacred piece of earth from whence we originate and to which we return, completing a divine cycle,” and called upon individuals to honor and preserve the natural bounty of the earth.

He cautioned against disrupting this delicate harmony, emphasising the grave consequences of neglecting our environmental responsibilities. Srivastava’s impassioned plea resonated with the audience, inspiring a renewed commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

As temperatures soar to unprecedented levels, recent records in Murgeshpur and Rajasthan serve as stark reminders of the urgent need for concerted action to address climate change and its associated challenges, he added.
