Bokaro: Students of Guru Gobind Singh Public School (GGPS) Bokaro won first prize at the CBSE Regional Science Exhibition held at Sarla Birla Public School, Ranchi. Their project, titled Digital Smart Farming System, secured the top honour in the Sustainable Agriculture category, bringing recognition to the school, district and State.
The project blends modern science with grassroots realities. Led by Shubham Kumar Singh, the team included Anushka Singh, Prachi Naveen Choudhary, Anubhav Vishwakarma, Piyush Kumar, Saksham Kumar Singh and Ritesh Kumar.

The achievement drew the attention of the district administration. Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha invited the team to his office for a live demonstration and termed the project a “revolutionary contribution to agriculture and rural security.” He announced plans to pilot the system in Gomia village and elephant-affected areas to reduce human-animal conflict and protect crops.
The system operates through simple SMS commands, automating irrigation, electric fencing and alert mechanisms. Powered by solar energy and equipped with AI-based animal detection, it can safeguard up to 100 acres at a cost of Rs 1.5 lakh, making technology accessible to farmers and rural communities alike.
