Bokaro: In the holistic development of a child, the National Education Policy (NEP) will be crucial. The NEP-2020 promotes skill-based learning, which is essential for the students of the 21st century. The need of the hour is to enhance critical thinking abilities, analytical skills, communication skills, and emotional intelligence.
This was the topic discussed at a workshop organised by Guru Gobind Singh Public School (GGPS), a notable educational institution located in Sector-V. The workshop was inaugrated by the Principal of Guru Gobind Singh Public School-Chas, Uma Shankar Singh, after lamp lighting and prayer. The workshop started with Guru Vandana.
GGPS-Bokaro’s principal, Soumen Chakraborty, was the workshop’s eminent speaker. He discussed the objectives and importance of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 along with its related aspects. In his view, “teachers are the backbone of the education system. NEP-2020 is a treasure trove of ideas that touches upon many core issues of educational concern”.
He then spoke about accountability in the education system. He talked about three hierarchical models for improving education. According to him, teachers should give equal importance to all three domains (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor). He also suggested some ways to make the policy more effective.
Chakraborty emphasized activity-based teaching and learning. Teachers have the ability to make a difference in the classroom, and therefore a committed teacher is necessary for a quality institution. Teachers should focus on the development of children on all levels. Consequently, he advised the teaching fraternity of the Guru Gobind Singh Educational Society to adjust their traditional approach to education in order to adapt to the present day. Afterwards, Chakraborty led an intense interactive discussion-based question-answer session.
Teachers from the Dhanbad, Chas Bokaro, and Main branches took part in the activity. It was a wonderful as well as fruitful session, said many participants.
