Police in Bokaro, started ‘Equipment Bank’ to collect used mobiles and laptops from affluent citizens for poor students


Bokaro: SP, Bokaro, Chandan Kumar Jha on Wednesday started ‘equipment bank’ in all the 41 police stations of the district. Starting an ‘equipment bank’ in all police stations will help residents to donate their used gadgets which will be provided to the poor students in need.

Nodal officers have also been appointed in all the police stations. The order related to this has been issued by the SP. It has been told, that schools and colleges are closed due to corona pandemic. Only online classes are running. There are many meritorious children whose studies have been affected without electronic gadgets.

Donated digital devices will help those needy students in getting an online education. The step has been taken under community policing in all the police stations across the district. An appeal has also been made by the SP to the residents asking to deposit more and more mobiles, laptops and other devices.

SP said that the “equipment bank has been started in all the police stations. We are appealing to people to donate their old smartphones, computers, laptops and tablets to help the needy students in the corona pandemic”.

Officer incharges of each police station in Bokaro are also appealing to residents at their own level in their jurisdiction area to come forward for this noble cause.

  • Diary entry should be done against each of the donated devices and an attested copy should be given to the donor as proof that in case of misuse the donor will not be held responsible.
  • The name and address of the depositor, the IMEI number of the smartphone, the unique identification number of the laptop, the date and time of the deposit will be mentioned in the records of the police station.
  • The deposited smartphone-laptop should be distributed among the poor and meritorious students on the recommendation of their headmasters.
  • The students need to give an undertaking that in case of misuse, they will be held responsible.
