Bokaro: The Fire Department of Bokaro Steel Plant (SAIL-BSL) will now be under the responsibility of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). In this regard, the Union Home Ministry has approved the proposal of CISF Headquarters. It is expected that with the beginning of the new year, the command of the fire wing will be handed over to the CISF.
At present the manpower strength of BSL’s fire department is about three dozen. BSL’s Fire department is facing huge manpower crisis with retirement of employees. There are 4 fire stations operational inside the plant with 13 fire tenders.
DIG, CISF, Saugat Rai said “the responsibility of fire wing of Bokaro Steel Plant will be given to CISF. In this regard, the Union Home Ministry has approved the proposal. A strategy is being prepared between CISF and SAIL Headquarters for further departmental process”.
Sources said, 150 jawans including two gazetted officers of CISF will be deployed. For this, the Headquarters has created a post. The personnel will be recruited from the existing manpower of CISF. At present, CISF is commanding the fire department in a total of 60 major companies including PSUs of the country.
