Bokaro: An officer of deputy manager rank in Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) was attacked by the agitators, who were staging demonstration, inside the plant here on Monday. The car of the victim, Raj Kumar (name changed as he does not want to disclose it publicly) of the Water Management Plant, was badly vandalised. Fortunately, he did not sustain any grievous injury as he locked himself inside the car.
The incident occurred near the Executive Director (Works) office building inside the BSL plant in broad daylight. Bokaro Steel Officer’s Association (BSOA) has demanded a high-level probe and action against the accused in this connection. The matter has been informed to director incharge, BSL, Amarendu Prakash and other senior officials.
President of BSOA, A K Singh said that “this is intolerable. We are in process of taking the decision to lodge FIR, if BSL management would not take any action against the agitators involved in attacking our officer”. Narrating the incident, Singh said that strike has been called by various unions for the implementation of Pay Revision. In this regard, a joint meeting of various unions was held nearby ED(Works) building.
“This incident occurred when officers on duty were moving from one place to another to discharge their official duties. Then the agitators there tried to interrupt the movements of the officers. The victim Kumar has been stopped intentionally near Gol Chakkar and was insulted by the agitators. When he resisted, they vandalised his vehicle,” said BSOA president.
He also added that “the agitators had become violent and virtually attacked on our officer saying “officer has isko maro“. We really condemned this act and request management to inquire the matter and take strict action immediately”. The entire executive fraternity of BSL is infuriated with the occurrence of such incident.
BSOA also stated that repetition of such incidents in the future, may invite a big industrial dispute and the situation may go out of control.
