SAIL-BSL: Steel melting shop sets new production record

Bokaro: The  SMS- New team of SAIL-Bokaro Steel Plant is setting new production records consistently with their collective efforts in line with the basic mantra “Every Month – A Better Month” announced by Amarendu Prakash, Director-in-Charge, Bokaro Steel Plant.

In this series of records, the SMS- New team have now set a new record by casting 24 heats continuously by a single DVM Tundish. Earlier, the team of SMS-New had set a record by casting 22 heats continuously in the recent past.

On 7th October, Executive Director (Projects) R Kushwaha and Executive Director (Works) Atanu Bhowmik met the employees of SMS- New and congratulated them on this achievement.

Led by Chief General Manager (SMS-New) MR Gupta and under the guidance of  General Manager A Jamiyar, General Manager SK Jha, General Manager A Mundu, General Manager MK Haldar,  B Dutta & VC Reddy (SMS-1, the team of  Assistant General Manager SK Chidar, Manager Shashi Bhushan Siddharth and Deputy Manager ) Santosh Kumar has achieved this success by increasing the casting speed and improving the Tundish life through continuous concerted efforts while simultaneously controlling super heat.

It is noteworthy that the first slab from SMS-New was cast on 27 January 2021. With the introduction of this state-of-the art slab casters in SMS-New of BSL, the steel production at Bokaro Steel Plant is now 100% through slab route, which is superior in all quality parameters and more energy efficient.
