Bokaro: At a time when educational institutions are closed in wake of Covid-19, this school in Bokaro has organised sports meet online, which was a great success. Students found it different and enjoy it a lot. Initially when the idea struck to organise sports meets online, many of them found it amusing as it involved physical activities.
But Pentecostal Assembly School (PAS), principal, Dr Karuna Prasad took this as a challenge and turned her thought and creativity into a success. The five day long sports event begins from December 1 and ends on Saturday. It saw huge participation of students from Prep to Class 12.
Different events were organized each day and students have represented their houses with a great spirit of sportsmanship and zeal. All events had taken place via the live streaming and results updated to students everyday. Many parents also get involved watching the event finding it very interesting.
The different events for girls and boys were Yoga, Zumba, Skipping, Dips and Sit ups. Two sports webinars were also organized to motivate the best athletes of Class VII to XII. Ms Sapna Kumari, International hurdler from Jharkhand and Gold Medallist at SAE also motivated students online during the meet.
Meanwhile, PAS also hosted eminent sportswoman, Ms Jayanthi Kuru Utumpal, who was the first Srilankan to summit Mount Everest, as the guest speaker for the sports webinar. She brought a powerful message of determination and hope as she spoke “It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves”.
Students find the sports meet an opportunity to indulge in healthy competition. Dr Karuna Prasad said “winning and losing is often inconsequential – what is important is participating and contributing and of course enjoying together”. Teachers also participated keenly.
