1984 riot victims send legal notices to makers of web series “Grahan” asking to halt its release, story is on Bokaro


Bokaro: The victims of 1984 riots have sent legal notice to makers of the web series ‘Grahan’ and the head of OTT platform HotStar.  For them, the web series “Grahan” allegedly twisted the narrative of the riots in their show, which has hurt the sentiments of Sikh Community.  The victims have demanded to halt the release of the show and also sought an apology.

The web series ‘Grahan’ is going to release on June, 24 on HotStar. Its trailer has already released. It is based on the story of 1984 riots in Bokaro which had witnessed a traumatic bloodbath.

For many people of Bokaro the harrowing memories of killing during 1984 Sikh riots will never die. A young writer, Satya Vyas, who is a native of the town, through his imagination tried to take people way back in those awful times through his novel ‘Chaurasi’ that was released in 2017. This web series is based on the story of “Chaurasi”.

This movie portrays a youth of Bokaro who become get involved in the massacre to save the life of a Sikh family. The story shown in the trailer depicts young IPS Amrita Singh has been handed a special case. According to the author, the young IPS learns that his father has been accused of a heinous crime. Caught between her duty and love for her father, Amrita has to face so many difficulties to know the whole matter. It shows how these difficulties affect her personal and professional life.

The novel ‘Chaurasi’ based on which web series “Grahan” has been made is the third book of Satya Vyas. Prior to this, his two novels Banaras Talkies, Baaghi Ballia etc have been best sellers.
