In the murder case of Manti Manjit Patar alias Mansa, a CCL employee, the police discovered that his wife had given her lover the contract to kill him. In this connection, four people have been arrested and one is absconding. The incident occurred on Febuary, 28 at Barigram under Gandhinagar police station area. The deceased dead body was found in suspicious condition lying roadside.
According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Bermo, Satish Chandra Jha, the crime was committed because of an illicit relationship. The deceased wife Renuka Devi, 30, along with her lover Karan Kumar allegedly plotted to kill her husband Patar. She had given her lover, Karan, Rs 1.30 lakhs so he would carry out the murder. Karan, along with his brother Raju Kumar, friend Binod Bhuyian and Rahul Thakur, then committed the crime on the evening of February 28.
Accused Karan went to Patar’s house on the day of the crime. They left together from there, and Karan called all the accused to the sports ground at DVC Mines on their way. After dark, Rahul and other accused hit Patar on the head with axe. As soon as Patar died, they threw his body on the roadside to demonstrate that the road accident was the cause of the murder. The accused threw the axe used in the murder in the DVC mines.
Later local people informed the police and relatives. However police took Patar’s to the Central Hospital Dhori. Where the doctor declared him dead. The police sent the body for post-mortem. Karan had also gone for the post-mortem from where he escaped after some time. His wife, however, had lodged the case with Gandhinagar police station.
Jha told reporters that during the investigation, it was discovered that Patar’s friend Karan often talked on the phone with Renuka Devi. As the phone records of both Karan and Renuka were checked, it was found that the two had spoken 2700 times within the last month. Renuka did not even talk that much to her husband. The investigation revealed that Patar’s friend Karan had been having an affair with Renuka for the past two years. Renuka and Karan were planning to marry, but because the husband was a hindrance, Renuka killed him together with Karan.
