Shaurya Diwas of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was celebrated with full enthusiasm on Saturday at the 26th Battalion Headquarters at Chas ITI Moad under Chas Block of the district.
Commandant Kamalendra Pratap Singh addressed the Sainik Conference in the camp and swore oaths to maintain this proud tradition. Medal for Special Services and Police Medal for Gallantry winners were announced.
The Commandant said that on this day, April 9, 1965, around 3.30 am, the Infantry Brigade of the Pakistan Army attacked Sardar and Tak posts in the Run of Kutch, Gujarat. The jawans of two companies of the CRPF faced boldly and forced them to retreat. In the battle, 34 Pakistani soldiers were killed by the soldiers and four were taken hostage.
