SAIL ready to pay PRP, but BSOA chief says it’s ‘Aadhi Khusi- Aadha gum’


Bokaro: A day after members of Bokaro Steel Officer Association (BSOA) announced to stage series of demonstration demanding implementation of third pay revision, performance related pay (PRP) and other benefits for the executives, the management of Steel Authourity of India Limited (SAIL) showed positive gesture over fulfilling their demand on Sunday. BSOA, however, has decided to postpone the stir.

The president of BSOA, A K Singh on Sunday claimed to have received message from the top notches of SAIL management that the company is all set to pay the PRP of about 2000 executives working in BSL and around 9000 in other steel units on Monday. SAIL management honoured the hard work of executives, specially they performed during the most difficult time of Covid-19 lockdown.

SAIL management is also ready to have discussion on pay revision with effect from 2017 with Steel Executives Federation of India (SEFI) on November, 13. BSOA is an affiliate of SEFI. Singh said “SEFI had a council meeting at today evening. SAIL has shown good gestures for our demand and gave assurance to pay PRP of all the executives on Monday”.

This positive development made SEFI decided to postpone the agitation programmes. Further course of action will be decided by SEFI Council on agitation programmes after SAIL-SEFI meeting scheduled on November, 13. And, the BSOA council will also review the outcome of the SAIL-SEFI meeting after which further coarse of action will be decided on earlier proposed agitation programme in BSL, said Singh. BSOA had on Saturday announced after its council meeting to stage candle march on Monday evening.

Besides they will also demonstrate their anguish against management on Diwali by switching-off light in their houses for 15 minutes in evening.  On November, 25 the BSOA member had decided to demonstrate wearing black badges. On November, 28 they will work wearing black masks and demonstrate “Walk for Support” on December, 1.

BSOA had also informed the executive director (ED), P &A, of BSL by giving a demand letter on Saturday. The letter stated that BSL executives will stage demonstrations in phase manner until their demands will be fulfilled by the management.

BSOA demands include – implementation of third pay revision with effect from January, 1, 2017. Payment of PRP for the financial year 2019-20 and balance payment for the 2018-19. Pay fixation of junior officer (JO) 2008-10 Batch. Disinvestment of steel PSUs and units. And, Ex-gratia and employment to the dependents of deceased employees (COVID – 19 cases).

SAIL’s version will be attached as soon as it will be given.
