Bokaro: The unclaimed dead body lying in corridor in Sadar Hospital situated in Camp-2 for over 24 hours emitted putrefying smell that caused nausea and inconvinience to patients admitted in wards. Only after patients and their attendants created a ruckus did the district health department act and police cremated the body. Video:
The deceased was 61 years old and had been admitted to Sadar Hospital for the past 10 days by an unknown person. Someone found her lying senseless in the township. During treatment, her condition deteriorated and she died on Saturday afternoon.
Because the body had not been claimed, the staff left it on a stretcher in the corridor for inquest and disposal by the police. From Saturday 3 pm to Sunday night, the body was not removed and started decomposing.
Kuldeep Chaudhary, DC, Bokaro, on Monday asked civil surgeon A B Prasad to submit an inquiry report regarding the incident. “I have asked the civil surgeon to investigate why the unclaimed woman was left in the hospital since Saturday,” said DC.
