In a tragic incident, the Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailed early Tuesday morning in Jharkhand. The accident occurred at approximately 4:15 am near Poto Beda village, located between Barabamboo and Rajkharsawan railway stations in the Chakradharpur division.
The derailment involved train number 12810, which was en route from Howrah to Mumbai. Out of the train’s compartments, 18 bogies derailed, leaving only four general bogies on track. As a result, two individuals lost their lives, and many others sustained injuries. Those who had died were in toilets.
Rescue and relief operations are currently underway, with administrative officials present at the scene to oversee and coordinate the efforts. The District Administration of Saraikela Kharsawan has issued helpline numbers for information regarding the ongoing operations: 6204800965 and 8789080490.
Efforts are being made to assist the injured and clear the derailed compartments. The situation is being closely monitored as rescue teams continue their work.
