Fire breaks out at DVC 500 MW Bokaro Thermal Power Plant, Disrupting electricity production

Bokaro: A fire caused by a short circuit in the HT panel beneath the turbine floor of the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) 500 MW Bokaro Thermal Power Plant disrupted electricity production on Wednesday. The incident led to the shutdown of one unit, while another panel was completely destroyed.

Sources from BTPS reported that the fire ignited in the electrical breaker board of the HT panel, situated three and a half meters above the turbine floor. The CISF fire wing on-site was alerted, and firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the blaze. Unfortunately, by the time the fire was controlled, the panel and board were reduced to ashes. At the time of the fire, the other unit was generating approximately 350 MW of electricity.
