Bokaro: The district health department on Friday decided to shift its Covid-19 Sample Collection Unit from Sadar Hospital to a separate building situated in the back of Zaika Happenings to control the growing rush of residents. On Thursday hundreds of residents, who had visited Sadar Hospital for Covid-19 test, raised voice against the poor arrangement of Sadar Hospital. The staff engaged in sampling were blamed for favouring their closed ones in taking samples.
The residents including senior citizens and women for their turn have to wait in queue for few hours. This had caught attention of authorities of district health department, who on Friday decided to shift the counter. Nikhil Sinha a resident said “I was first in the queue, but after the opening of counter, samples of 24 persons who made backdoor entry were collected before me. It is really pathetic”. Waiting for long in the queue also leads to violation of social distancing among residents making the spot prone to spread of coronavirus.
Civil surgeon, Dr A K Pathak confirmed that the newly constructed building of Intensive Burn Unit behind Zaika Happening near Collectorate building is being made Covid-19 sample collection centre. Swab collection for RTPCR, Truenat and RAT will be done in that center as well as residents can get test reports there. A dedicated team of lab technicians will be deployed there.
