Bokaro Schools ignite 78th Independence Day with spectacular celebrations despite rainy skies


Despite the dreary weather, Bokaro’s leading schools celebrated the 78th Independence Day with electrifying enthusiasm and flair. The schools were transformed into vibrant showcases of national pride, with festive decorations and a lively array of cultural performances. The air was charged with patriotism as the schools resonated with patriotic tunes and spirited celebrations, turning each campus into a hub of fervent pride and joy.

Delhi Public School: A Grand Independence Day Celebration 

Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great pomp. The event saw enthusiastic participation from teachers, non-teaching staff, and students of both senior and primary sections. Principal Dr. A.S. Gangwar inaugurated the ceremony by hoisting the national flag amidst a backdrop of tricolored balloons, artwork, and flags. The school’s atmosphere was charged with patriotism as students in tricolor bands chanted slogans and sang patriotic songs like “Vande Mataram” and “Saare Jahan Se Achcha.”

In his address, Principal Dr. Gangwar paid tribute to the nation’s martyrs and highlighted the importance of recommitting to our values. He urged everyone to contribute towards building a developed, inclusive, and innovative India. The celebration was further enlivened by melodious songs and captivating performances by students, while a selfie point featuring beautiful paintings and artworks drew considerable attention.

Sree Ayyappa Public School: Patriotism and Cultural Extravaganza 

Sree Ayyappa Public School celebrated Independence Day with remarkable enthusiasm. The school Council members, led by Head Boy Shivam and Head Girl Pari Bhardwaj, presented a disciplined parade. Principal P Shailaja Jayakumar hoisted the flag, followed by the National Anthem and a stirring address urging students to be change-makers and uphold values of courage and unity. She emphasized the importance of working towards a better future for oneself and the community, echoing Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” On the occasion of the day, Chairman P. Rajagopal also sent a mobile message and wished everyone a happy 78th Independence Day. The celebrations included a variety of cultural performances, such as a captivating orchestra by Sriragam, a dance drama showcasing legendary freedom fighters, and vibrant dance performances by students from grades 6 to 12.

GGPS: A Tribute to Freedom Fighters At GGPS, Bokaro, the 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal. The event featured a flag-hoisting ceremony conducted by Secretary S.P. Singh, Principal Soumen Chakraborty, and other dignitaries. Principal Chakraborty highlighted the significance of the day and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. Students delivered inspiring recitations in English, Sanskrit, and Hindi, while the school choir and tiny tots presented stirring performances. The celebration was further marked by a skit on “Shaheed Bhagat Singh” and the school choir’s third-place win in an Inter-School Group Song Competition organized by SAIL, Bokaro.

Chinmaya Vidyalaya: A Festive Display of Patriotism 

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Bokaro, hosted a vibrant Independence Day celebration beginning with a Prabhat Pheri involving over 800 students and 150 teachers. The event, which included the distribution of flags under the “Har Ghar Tiranga” initiative, featured performances by the school choir and a flag-hoisting ceremony. Principal Suraj Sharma’s address highlighted the importance of freedom and students’ responsibilities. The celebration showcased a variety of performances, including a mass drill, yoga dance, and inter-house dance competitions, with Vayu House emerging as the overall champion.

Pentecostal Assembly School: A Tribute to Values and Achievements 

The Pentecostal Assembly School celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The event began with the National Flag hoisting by Rev. D. N. Prasad, followed by a unified rendition of the National Anthem. Sandhya Dwivedi’s speech and Vice-Captain Anurag Gupta’s Hindi poem added to the patriotic fervor. The school’s victory in the Inter-School Dance Competition was announced, highlighting their dedication to instilling values of responsibility and national pride. Principal Karuna Prasad emphasised the importance of serving the nation and carrying forward the legacy of freedom fighters.

MGM Higher Secondary School: A Celebratory Extravaganza  

MGM Higher Secondary School celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm. The day began with the flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by cultural performances including a march past, dance, and songs. Chief Guest Major Aditya Vaibhav Asthana and Guest of Honour Gaurav Kr. inspired students with their addresses on discipline, responsibility, and patriotism. Principal Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese urged students to serve the nation selflessly, reminding them of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a celebratory atmosphere, reflecting the school’s commitment to instilling patriotism and excellence in its students.
