Bokaro: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PSEB) on Wednesday announced the selection of Amarendu Prakash as the new Chairman of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
This decision was welcomed with open arms by SAIL employees, including the Bokaro Steel Officer Association (BSOA), which congratulated Prakash on his elevation.
Selection Process
The selection process was rigorous and involved interviews with seven candidates, including Anirban Dasgupta, Director-in-charge of Bhilai Steel Plant, BP Singh, Director-in-charge of Durgapur Steel Plant, VS Chakraborty, Director Commercial SAIL, and Jagdish Arora, Executive Director of CET,Ranchi. After the interview, Prakash was announced as the new Chairman, SAIL on Wednesday evening.
Prakash’s Background
Prakash who holds a B-Tech in Metallurgy from BIT-Sindri, is all set to become one of the youngest SAIL Chairman. His journey with SAIL began in July 1991 when he joined Bokaro Steel Plant as a Management Trainee. He has since then worked in various departments, including the Hot Strip Mill and PPC departments of Bokaro Steel before being transferred to the Chairman’s office in April 2016.
He was appointed as the Director-in-charge of BSL on 29 September 2020 and has been elevated to the position of Chairman within two and a half years.
