Bokaro: A police team was attacked by vendors in Dundibagh market area under City police station of the town here on Monday. Infuriated vendors gathered and pelted stones on the police team. A sub-inspector Pinku Kumar Singh sustained minor injuries. The incident occurred when police team reached there receiving information of violation of Covid-19 protocols. Dundibagh is the biggest vegetable market in the district.
DSP, City, Kuldeep Kumar said the police team found violation of social distancing norms in the crowded market. Police personnels asked vegetable vendors to follow the Covid protocol. In the process, one vegetable vendor reacted and entangled with the police team. When police detained him and was being brought to police station, the rest of the vegetable vendors launched attack on the team.
Following the incident, heavy deployment of police personnels has been done at the spot.
