Bokaro: Utkarsh Raj, a Class IX student of DPS Bokaro, has bagged silver medal in The World Mathematics Team Championship (WMTC) which was held in Nov 2021 on the virtual platform.
It was for the first time that Indian students participated in WMTC and Utkarsh was among the top six students in the senior group to represent India. He was eligible to participate in the championship only after clearing the prelims and advanced level examination of Hanoi Open Mathematics Competition (HOMC). Utkarsh is felicitated with a silver medal and a certificate.
HOMC is organized by the Meccademia Education, Institute for Junior (Grade 7 & 8) and Senior (Grade 9 & 10) students with the objectives to identify and nurture mathematical talent and motivate the students at junior and senior high schools.
The World Mathematics Competition (WMTC) held in Nov 2021 included 3 rounds. Individual, Relay and Team Round, but as the competition was held in online mode, participants had to solve every question on their own without any assistance from the teammates. There were 6 members in each of the three teams from every participating nation.
Speaking about his achievement Utkarsh said, “The preparation and training by the school and Meccademia helped a lot in achieving this goal. It was a really great feeling to represent my school and the nation at the global level. The competition was very constructive and helped us to learn more and motivated us to achieve greater heights in the future.”
Principal, DPS Bokaro A. S. Gangwar, congratulated Utkarsh on his extraordinary achievement. He said that Utkarsh has made the school proud. “Congratulations! your achievement is the result of the hard-work, perseverance, patience and dedication that you have put in. Always remember that every accomplishment springs from the desire to try so, never let that spirit fade away!” remarked Gangwar.
