Exploring India’s Ancient Heritage: Bokaro schools compete in mythology and culture quiz


Bokaro: In a bid to explore the intricacies of India’s ancient civilization, Dr. Radhakrishnan Sahodaya School Complex organised an inter-school quiz competition at Sree Ayyappa Public School in Bokaro on Friday. The event, designed to unravel the country’s cultural richness and navigate through mythological realms, witnessed the participation of 14 schools from Bokaro.

This academic extravaganza aimed to acquaint students with the profound aspects of Indian ancient civilization, culture, and diverse mythological subjects, showcasing the glory of India’s heritage.

Symbolic Welcome: Sree Ayyappa Public School Embraces Tradition with Tilak

Welcoming participants and guests with a traditional touch, Sree Ayyappa Public School adorned visitors with Tilak, symbolising the essence of Indian tradition. The event’s inauguration featured the esteemed presence of Dr. S. S. Mahapatra, Director of Lamp Lighting School, and P. Shailja Jayakumar, Principal of Sree Ayyappa Public School, who jointly initiated the competition with a welcoming song.

Intellectual Battle Unfolds in Two Phases 

The competition organised in two stages and two parts, catering to junior (classes 9-10) and senior (classes 11-12) groups. The initial written phase led to the selection of participants for the subsequent oral phase, characterised by a challenging series of questions across literature, science, sociology, English, and ancient literature. The competition intensified as students showcased their knowledge and acumen, progressing through the stages, with the final phase relying on a process of elimination.

Triumphant Results Unveiled 

The culmination of the intellectually charged event revealed the triumphs of Group A and Group B. ARS Public School emerged as the winners in Group A, followed by M.G. M School and D.A. V., Kathara, securing second and third positions, respectively. In Group B, Delhi Public School claimed the top spot, with D.A. V., Kathara, and The Pentecostal Assembly School securing second and third positions.

Acknowledging Excellence and Cultivating Versatility 

The winning team received accolades in the form of mementos, certificates, and medals, while all participants were honoured with certificates and mementos as consolation prizes. Special guests, including Soman Chakraborty, Principal of Guru Gobind Singh Public School, and Vishwajit Patra, Vice President of Sahodaya Complex, were recognised for their presence and contributions to the event.

Cultural Enrichment and Words of Encouragement 

In his address, the chief guest highlighted the richness and uniqueness of Indian culture, emphasising the importance of preserving and understanding this heritage. Secretary Vishwajit Patra commended the competition for nurturing the versatile talents of children and increasing their knowledge of civilisation and culture. Soumen Chakraborty encouraged participating students and lauded the efforts of teachers and principals from the participating schools.

A Diverse Array of Participants 

Fourteen schools from Bokaro participated in the quiz competition, showcasing the city’s academic vibrancy. The event’s closing ceremony witnessed the presence of key figures in Bokaro’s education landscape, including Father Reji Varghese, Principal of M.G. M School, Dr. Karuna Prasad, Cultural Secretary of Dr. Radhakrishnan Sahodaya School Complex, and Abhishek Kumar, Principal of Guru Govind Singh Public School (GGPS), among others.

A Grand Finale and National Pride 

The closing ceremony, marked by a warm welcome address from P. Shailja Jayakumar, concluded on a patriotic note with the rendition of the national anthem, symbolizing the unity and pride of the diverse participants in this intellectual odyssey.
