Bokaro: The first-ever ISTE-sponsored Students’ Convention in the Bihar-Jharkhand section was successfully organised at Guru Gobind Singh Educational Society’s Technical Campus (GGSESTC). The two-day event, themed ‘Idea Generation and Start-ups – A Key to Success,’ featured prominent dignitaries, including ISTE Chairman Dr. Pratap Singh Kakasaheb Desai and JUT Vice Chancellor Dr. D.K. Singh. The convention included research paper presentations, technical sessions, poster displays, quiz competitions, and a panel discussion on Fifth Generation Engineering Colleges. The chief guest, His Excellency Governor of Jharkhand, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, was unable to attend but conveyed his best wishes. Special guest Dr. Pratap Singh Kakasaheb Desai, Chairman of ISTE, New Delhi, graced the occasion along with esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. D.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology, Ranchi; Dr. M.K. Jha, Principal, MIT Muzaffarpur; Professor Dr. Amresh Rai; Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Principal, Government Women’s Polytechnic, Bokaro; Padma Shri Dr. V.B, and Dr. Anil Kharche, Principal of Kolte Engineering College, Maharashtra.
Traditional Welcome and Cultural Performances
The honorable Chairman of GGSES, Mr. Tarsem Singh, and Secretary Mr. Surendra Pal Singh welcomed the guests with a ceremonial guard of honor. The program commenced with the traditional lighting of lamps, followed by the presentation of bouquets, shawls, gifts, and souvenirs. A vibrant cultural performance, featuring singing and dancing, was organized in honor of the guests.
Academic and Inspirational Addresses
A book of research papers related to the convention was released during the event. College Director Dr. Priyadarshi Jaruhar delivered the welcome address. In his speech, Dr. D.K. Singh motivated students to pursue engineering and research. Dr. Pratap Singh Kakasaheb Desai emphasized the crucial role of engineering education in technological innovation and national progress while also shedding light on ISTE’s history and significance. Institute Chairman Mr. Tarsem Singh praised the college’s achievements, and Institute Secretary Mr. Surendra Pal Singh spoke about the institute’s objectives, technical education, and employment opportunities. The inaugural session concluded with the national anthem, followed by the unveiling of the ISTE plaque by the distinguished guests.
Technical Sessions and Competitions
A sumptuous lunch was arranged for guests, professors, and students. Post-lunch, hybrid technical sessions saw students presenting research papers under the guidance of their professors. The event also featured a poster display, quiz competitions, and a panel discussion on the essential qualities of Fifth Generation Engineering Colleges.
