The Gua Ore Mines, part of the Jharkhand Group of Mines under SAIL-Bokaro Steel Plant, has been honoured with the first prize in the Open Cast Medium Categories Mines at the esteemed Mines Safety Awards 2024. The award ceremony took place on July 28, 2024, at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata. Organised by the All India Mines Safety Association under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), the event celebrated excellence in mining safety practices across the country.

Director Incharge of Bokaro Steel Plant, B K Tiwari, received the award in the presence of distinguished guests including Director Incharge of Rourkela Steel Plant, Atanu Bhowmick. The event was also graced by the presence of Executive Director (Mines) J Dasgupta, Executive Director (Collieries) Anup Kumar, Chief General Manager Kamal Bhasker, and other senior officers from the Bokaro Steel Plant, Jharkhand Group of Mines, and Collieries Division.
