Bokaro: Sree Ayyappa Public School premises were alive with excitement as the inaugural ceremony of the CBSE East Zone Girls Football Competition took place. The event, a testament to the commitment of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), aimed to encourage sportsmanship, critical thinking, and the empowerment of young girls.
The festivities commenced with a traditional tilak ceremony, where the chief guest, Kirtishree, Deputy Development Commissioner Bokaro, and special guest Dr. Jaideep Sarkar, coach of the Volleyball team, were honored. The ceremony also saw the presence of CBSE CT Coordinator Suraj Sharma, and the Sree Ayyappa Public School Management Committee, led by Chairman P. Rajagopal.
Inspirational speeches highlighted the importance of sports in overall development. Dr. Jaideep Sarkar emphasised India’s growing prominence in the sporting world, with schools across the nation encouraging sports and the Olympic movement expanding horizons.
The chief guest, Kirtishree, urged students to recognize their inner strength and the role of sports in fostering discipline and holistic growth. She commended the youth for their enthusiasm, seeing them as the golden future of Indian sports.
Deputy Development Commissioner engaged with the players, discussing women’s empowerment and the transformation of hobbies into skills. The players, representing four teams from different states, demonstrated their unity through a grand march past.
Four teams from Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, including Sree Ayyappa Public School Bokaro, Delhi Public School Bokaro, Army Public School Lucknow, and Jharkhand Public School Khalari, are vying for the championship.
The school was adorned to create an attractive atmosphere for the sports festival, with the playground fully equipped for the competition. The enthusiasm among players and spectators was palpable.
The three-day competition, from September 28th to 30th, will feature eight matches. In today’s matches, Army Public School, Lucknow, and Jharkhand Public School, Khalari, emerged as the winners. DAV Adityapur Principal cum CBSE Supervisor Kabita Swain, Referee Ranvijay Ojha, Ayyappa Vidyalaya staff, student council members, and students showed their support for the players.
As the day concluded, Vice-Principal Mrs. Rajalakshmi expressed gratitude to all the guests, making it clear that the CBSE East Zone Girls Football Competition is not just a tournament but an empowering platform for girls to shine in sports.
