District Education Officer (DEO) of Bokaro, Jagannath Lohra has confirmed that all schools in the district have been notified to comply with the government’s instructions to suspend classes from kindergarten (KG) to class 8 due to the ongoing extreme heat wave. The precautionary measure is aimed at protecting students’ health and well-being during this period of intense heat.

While students from primary to class 8 will remain at home, the order does not apply to teachers and non-teaching staff. Staff members are expected to attend school as usual during scheduled hours. Their tasks include evaluating answer sheets from the annual examinations for classes 1 to 7, publishing results, and preparing report cards. Staff will also complete entry work for student data in e-VidyaVahini and U-DICE Plus systems.

Further responsibilities for staff include cataloging school library books, maintaining and updating school records, and managing the enrollment of students for the 2024-25 academic session.

Teachers are expected to prepare class-wise and subject-wise curriculum plans and teaching materials for the upcoming academic session. Additionally, they are required to register with the J-Guruji application for capacity building and view the video content provided.

While classes above class 9 will continue from 7:00 am to 11:30 am, prayer meetings and outdoor activities such as sports are prohibited during this period. Residential schools are permitted to continue operating as normal.

This decisive action comes as Jharkhand experiences intense heat conditions that have raised concerns about the health and safety of students. The state government will monitor the situation and lift the school closure order when appropriate.
