Bokaro: Several thousand Santhal tribals from different parts of the country and abroad visited Lugu Buru Ghantavadi Dhoramgaad, a famous holy place, situated at Lugu hill in Lalpania under Gomia Block here. The two-day religious gathering of Santhal, the largest tribal community in the country, took place once every year and kicked off on Monday.
DC, Bokaro, Kuldeep Chaudhary, who visited Lugu Hill, said that proper arrangements for lights and other things had been made. Santhals visit here to worship Lugu Baba and perform religious rituals. Tribals used the gathering also in discussing on development of their Santhali culture. A huge fair was organized on the occasion which draws a large number of residents from local areas.
“This is our biggest religious gathering. The Santhal’s from Nepal, Manipur, Orissa, Bihar, and other states have arrived to participate in the function,” said Babuli Soren, president of Lugu Buru Dhoramgarh Committee.
Lugu Baba temple is adorned with natural beauty. While a religious gathering is being organised Lugu Buru Ghantavadi Dhoramgaad, the devotees will visit for darshan at Lugu Baba temple situated on the hill. Apart from Santhalis, the people belonging to other communities strongly believe in Lugu Baba, the face of Lord Shiva.
Security has been beefed up in the area while all the arrangements like temporary shelters, sheds, public toilets, and others have been installed for the convenience of the devotees. On Tuesday chief minister Hemant Soren will participate in the religious event.
