ED ask employees to avoid shortcuts in the workplace

The Safety Awareness Week begins at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) on Wednesday. It was inaugurated by Executive Director (Operations) Atanu Bhowmik and other officials at an event organized by the Traffic Department.

Bhowmik urged employees and executives to avoid short-cuts on the shop floor. Furthermore, he asked that the work be performed safely by following all SOPs and SMPs. Sanjay Kumar, Chief General Manager (Services), encouraged employees to adopt a behavior-based safety approach by implementing the “Roto-Toko” campaign continuously.

“During this week, employees will be informed about effective safety measures to take at work, road safety, and operational safety,” said Manikant Dhan, chief of communication. Besides that, there will be sessions on yoga and stress management for the employees.  We will also be organizing debates, essays, posters, slogan contests, and poetry competitions related to safety.

Installation of oxygen supply in beds has reached its final phase at BGH

The installation of oxygen in the beds of most of the wards at Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) is nearing completion. The purpose of this is to prepare for the third wave of Covid-19. With it, about 90 percent of beds at BGH will be on oxygen support. BGH will receive oxygen directly from BSL’s oxygen plant through newly installed pipelines. BGH is the Dedicated Covid Hospital of the district. During the past two waves of Corona, it has cured the largest number of Covid patients.

JMM announces taking out Chetavani Rally against BSL

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has announced that they will hold a ‘Chetavani Rally’ against Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) on August 26. Mantu Yadav, JMM’s city president, said, “We will take out Chetavani Rally as part of our agitation against BSL. “We want BSL’s management to return the surplus land to the displaced workers”.

Two incidents in the plant resulted in one fatality and one injury

An employee of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) died mysteriously on Wednesday. The deceased Prayag Rajwar (55) worked as the head keeper of the blast furnace number-3 at the plant. After being found unconscious in a lift area, he was declared dead at the BGH. A family member of the deceased received an offer letter from BSL.  At Hot Strip Mill, another incident occurred in the afternoon when N Bauri fell from the stairs of a coiler.
