Sports calendar release by BSL focus on promoting sports among residents


Bokaro: The Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) on Sunday released Annual Sports and Cultural Activities Calendar-2021 on the occasion of SAIL foundation day here. The Sports Calendar has been specially prepared in view of Bokaro being granted the status of the first Global Active Partner City of the country.

Director in charge of BSL, Amarendu Prakash said, “with the objective of promoting sports and well-being among all residents of Bokaro, a calendar of sports events to be organised throughout this year in the township and adjoining rural areas has been prepared. I urged everyone to whole-heartedly participate in the sports and cultural events”.

The foundation day of SAIL was celebrated with great enthusiasm here on Sunday. The Mohan Kumar Mangalam stadium wore a festive look with very limited gathering due to Covid-19. The SAIL day run organized by Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) saw the participation of DC, DIG, SP, SDO, and other administrative and police officials.

Director Incharge first administered the SAIL Day oath to all for maintaining fitness for the service of the nation. Balloons were then released by the dignitaries as a symbol of promoting health awareness on the occasion of SAIL Day. Around 30 persons participated in 5 km run including senior officials and BSL employees, said Manikant Dhan, spokesperson, BSL.

Director Incharge and DC, Bokaro, Rajesh Singh jointly flagged-off a tableau on the theme of Global Active Partner City granted to Bokaro. The tableau will go around the town and nearby areas to acquaint residents of the special status bestowed upon Bokaro, the first in India.

DIG, Coal-belt region, Prabhat Kumar, DIG(CISF) Sitanshu Shekhar Mishra, SP, Bokaro, Chandan Jha, SDO, Chas, Shashi Prakash Singh and others were present at the occasion.
