Top CBSE schools failed to show land lease agreements in Bokaro, says joint secretary education

The district education department has received documents and land records from the private schools in town. Of the five prominent schools that were asked to submit the documents for verification, only Shri Ayyappa Public School did not respond. The report on the joint secretary’s inquiry will be submitted within a week, upon which the secretary of state’s education department will inform CBSE.

Neelam Eleen Toppo, District Education Officer (DEO), has been directed by the state government to send letters to five private schools, requesting they submit all documents proving their affiliation. The schools which were asked to submit documents are- Chinmaya Vidyalaya Sector-5, Delhi Public School Sector-4, Pentecostal Assembly School Sector-12, Ayyappa Public School Sector-5 and St. Xavier’s School, Sector-1

Joint Secretary, Jharkhand Department of School Education and Literacy, Sandeep Kumar examined land records and other papers filed with the district education office. The DEO office requested the schools to submit the land agreement, deed to property, teacher-student ratio, number of teachers and employees, salaries, and the number of seats available for admission under the Right to Education Act as well as other documents.

Sundeep Kumar said “Pentecostal Assembly School is the only school that has submitted complete papers. St. Xavier’s has almost every required document, but there is no lease agreement with DPS. Another Chinmaya Vidyalaya does not have a lease renewal from 2019”.

According to information obtained, neither the land agreement documents nor BSL’s deed were presented by the representative of DPS Bokaro. The sector five DPS school was given about 3.5 acres, and the sector four DPS school was given about 7 acres. The school has also been provided with free electricity and water. It was established in 1988.

Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Sector 5 received eight acres of land from BSL. Sri Ayyappa Public School was also given eight acres of land in 1988. St. Xavier’s School was given 7.9 acres of land in 1967.
