Tragic drowning of two youths during Saraswati Puja immersion in Bokaro


Bokaro: In a heartbreaking incident under the Chas police station area of Bokaro, two children lost their lives due to drowning while immersing the idol of Saraswati Puja in the Godai Dam pond behind Mahavir Chowk Kali Temple.

Identified as 15-year-old Raju Swarnkar and 16-year-old Shiv Swarnkar, both hailed from Swarnkar locality in Chas and were the sole children of their families. The tragedy has left their relatives distraught, with tears flowing freely in their grief-stricken households.

Reportedly, the two boys, accompanied by friends, went into the pond to carry out the ritual immersion of the Saraswati idol. Tragically, they miscalculated the depth of the pond and found themselves submerged. Upon learning of the incident, fellow participants rushed to rescue them but, tragically, their efforts were in vain.

“Rushed to the hospital, medical professionals confirmed their demise, leading to an outpouring of grief from the local community,” said Amar Swarnkar one of his relative. They were students of Ramrudra CM School of Excellence and preparing for matriculation examinations.
