Bokaro: The 24th Jharkhand State Youth Basketball Championship is set to commence at MGM Higher Secondary School Sector 4 from May 27th to 29th, organized by the Bokaro District Basketball Association. Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary of the Bokaro District Basketball Association, shared details during a press conference at MGM School on Thursday.The championship, held under the auspices of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, sees participation from various districts of Jharkhand. A total of 24 boys’ and girls’ teams are slated to compete, representing districts like East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Zep 1, Bokaro, Dumka, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Seraikela, Dhanbad, and Jamtara.

Selections for Jharkhand’s boys’ and girls’ teams will be based on performance during the championship. Noteworthy personalities like international player and JBA Secretary JP Singh, President Harbhajan Singh (Olympian), and several other international players will grace the event.
Father Reji C Varghese, Principal of MGMHSS School and patron of the championship, expressed joy over the arrangements made by the Bokaro District Basketball Association. He highlighted the provision of accommodation and food for all participating players within the school premises, emphasizing the initiative’s role in fostering a conducive sports environment in society.
Gopal Thakur, Secretary of the Bokaro District Olympic Association, underscored the association’s efforts to enhance the championship’s quality. The competition will be illuminated with milky light both in the morning and evening, ensuring optimal playing conditions.
The event saw the presence of several key figures including Bokaro District Basketball Association Treasurer Binod Kumar, along with members like Ram Lakhan Mistry, Kunal Kumar, Sandeep Bhola, and others.
