The CRPF and Naxalites engaged in an encounter in the jungles of Dakasadam village, located at the foothills of Luggu Mountain under Jageshwar Vihar police station, on Wednesday morning. Naxal uniforms and other items were recovered from the spot after naxals fled.
There was a movement of a Maoists squad in the forest. A search operation was launched in the jungle after CRPF received inputs.
There was an encounter between the CRPF jawans and the Naxalites during the search operation. There were several rounds exchanged. The forest, however, helped the Naxalites escape. K P Singh, CRPF commandant of 26 Battalion, said, “We recovered many naxal items and detonators”.
