Bokaro: The Rotary Club of Bokaro, in collaboration with Rotary International, recently concluded a highly enriching and enlightening three-day Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) program from November 3rd to 5th, 2023. This educational extravaganza took place at the prestigious Paul Harris Auditorium in Sector 4 and saw the active participation of 108 students from the city, spanning from classes 9 to 12.

The program was officially inaugurated by distinguished luminaries, including former Rotary Club President Rotarian Sandeep Narang, Assistant District Governor Rtn. Sandhya Raj, Rotary Club President Rtn. Ghanshyam Das, Secretary Rtn. Mahesh Gupta and others, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp.

Enlightening the Path to Leadership
The event commenced with an inspiring address by Sandeep Narang, who meticulously elucidated the critical principles for recognising and nurturing innate leadership qualities. He emphasised the significance of the program, encouraging all participants to develop successful leadership skills, thereby paving the way for a thriving future.

A Journey of Health and Expression
The second day witnessed a morning session dedicated to yoga, conducted by renowned yoga teacher Dr. Vinay Singh ‘Yoga.’ Participants were enlightened about the myriad benefits of daily yoga practice, fostering physical and mental well-being. Subsequently, both participants and Rotary members enthusiastically engaged in a lively Zumba session, dancing with infectious enthusiasm.

Unveiling Hidden Talents
In the evening, a captivating ‘Talent Tadka’ program unfolded, featuring a medley of presentations from different groups (Urja, Ulas, Umang, and Udaan). The students showcased their talents through dance, song, skits, catwalk, and other entertaining performances, culminating in a lively dance on the beats of ‘Bonfire’ and Bhangra.

Connecting with Rural Life
On the third and final day, students immersed themselves in yoga once more, and later embarked on an educational excursion to Ulgora, the club’s adopted village located on the Chas Purulia Highway, approximately 25 km from Bokaro. This initiative aimed to familiarise urban-raised children with rural life and its unique challenges, strengths, and achievements.

Leaving a Lasting Impact
The students visited the ‘Asha Ki Kiran Play Group’ school, run by Rotary, where they interacted with rural students and witnessed a stirring patriotic drill. This immersive experience left an indelible mark on the students, offering them a firsthand glimpse into rural life and culture.

The program concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to all attendees, accompanied by well-wishes for a bright future. The entire event was meticulously organised by a dedicated team of Rotarians, who ensured that this program would be etched in the memory of students as a transformative and enlightening experience.
